Washington Park Zoo Hours

Spring

March 29 – May 24

Open Daily: 10 am to 4 pm
The last entry is at 3 pm.

Summer

May 25 – September 1

Monday-Friday: 10 am to 4 pm
The last admission 3 pm
Sat -Sun: 10 am until 5 pm
The last admission 4 pm

Fall

September 2 – October 31

Open Daily: 10 am to 4 pm
The last admission is 3 pm

Winter

November 1 – December 7

Open Saturday and Sunday Only- 10 am to 3pm 

Closed for the Season as of December 8th, 2024

Seasonal Attraction Hours:

  • Observation Tower:  10:00 am to 3:00 pm daily

  • Animal Buildings and Giftshop closes 1/2 hour before closing time

  • Safari Train:  Open weekends only depending on staff and the weather Memorial Day thru Labor Day

  • Wings of Wonder Habitat: 11:00 am to 2:30 pm (Open depending on the weather and staffing)

  • Peacock Cafe is open depending on the forecasted weather.  

  • Coop Concession is open daily from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.  

  • * Please note that buildings or areas may temporarily close at any time due to animal care needs, weather, staffing, or maintenance.

*Must present a valid driver's license or state ID for showing a Michigan City address. Discounts are not available on special event dates such as Boo at the Zoo.

Parking Information

The Washington Park Zoo shares a parking lot with Lake Michigan Beach, Washington Park, and Oasis Splash Park. A separate parking fee for non-sticker holders during the summer season gives you all-day access to all of these areas.  For more information on parking stickers and fee details please visit:
